Full name is Arab Republic of Egypt, a Middle Eastern country in northeast Africa, linked to Asia by the Sinai peninsula. The Greek ancient traveller Herodotus, described Egypt as a “gift of the Nile” – the longest river on Earth – which has gifted this country with life, abundance and culture.

Capital : Cairo - Africa’s biggest city - with an estimated population of 15 million people, living in its metropolitan area.

Language : Arabic is the mother tongue. French & English are spoken by many of the educated class, while other languages are understood in the major tourist destinations across the country.

Religion : 90% majority of Muslim with a 10% of Coptic Christians

Population : 78 millions.

Currency : Egyptian Pound (divided into100 piaster), both US Dollars and Euros are widely accepted in most hotels, restaurants and stores, as well as the major credit cards.

Weather : Temperate on the Mediterranean coast; dry and sunny in the south and on the Red Sea.
